Business Tax Calendar 2008

The 2007/08 tax year ends on 5 April 2008 and this also brings a number of employer-related deadlines for submitting documents to HMRC.

19 April 2008

Last date to pay PAYE contributions for the 2007/08 tax year, by cheque, without having to pay interest. Electronic payments are due by 22 April.

19 May 2008

Submission of P35 (employer's annual return of employees' tax and Nl deductions) and P14s (summary of each employee's pay and deductions).

31 May 2008

Last day to distribute P60s to employees who were working for the employer on 5 April 2008.

6 July 2008

Submission of a summary of benefits paid to employees on the forms PUD and P11D(b).

19 July 2008

Class 1A National Insurance due on benefits in kind by cheque. Electronic payments are due by 22 July.

Filing online

If you are a small business - defined by HMRC as having fewer than 50 employees - and you file your P35 online, HMRC will pay you £100 tax-free for doing so. You usually claim this back by reducing your next monthly PAYE payment.
